Historic Downtown & nearby neighborhoods
The strongest local character, walkable destinations and older homes. Renovation quality, historic rules, foundations, plumbing and parking deserve careful review.
McKinney is large enough that the city name alone does not tell you what daily life will feel like. Historic downtown, established central neighborhoods, Craig Ranch, west-side master-planned communities, and the newer growth north of US 380 each create a different routine.
McKinney sits north of Plano and Allen, with US 75 handling north-south travel and SH 121 connecting the southwest side toward Frisco, Plano and the Dallas North Tollway. US 380 is the major east-west route—and the road you need to experience at the hour you would actually use it.
The southwest side is tied closely to Craig Ranch and the SH 121 employment corridor. Central and east McKinney connect more naturally to the historic square and US 75. Growth north of US 380 offers newer housing but can add time to almost every established destination.
McKinney can give you historic character, serious recreation, established neighborhoods, or brand-new construction. It usually cannot give you all four from the same address, so we start with the life you want and the roads you are willing to drive.

Newer communities and continued growth. Buyers should study future roads, construction timelines, school assignments and the daily cost of crossing 380.
More varied lots and a less polished suburban pattern in places. Verify utilities, floodplain, road plans and what nearby undeveloped land may become.
A beautiful house does not erase a frustrating daily route. We test the commute, errands, recreation and neighborhood at the times you will really use them.
